Before making a decision to purchase a safe from Homeland Security safe company located on 9612 Beverly road you should continue to read this web site for your own protection.
As soon as I mentioned the safes were damaged I was immediately told without even a second of hesitation; It seems as if this response has been rehearsed over time. Please take this statement seriously if you plan to do business with Homeland Safe after learning the facts about the way the company treats customers. Check all merchandise before you allow the shipping company to drop off your shipment and leave since Homeland Safe company will not stand behind their products or their packaging !!!
In my case you could not see the damage until the "thin" layer of cardboard and foam was removed so unwrap anything you buy and inspect it before you sign for the shipment also ask the shipping company to wait until you do this so they can take it back on the spot if there is any damage. Is this packaging adequate for shipping this heavy item around?
As far as Homeland Safe company is concerned their support of their product is over before the merchandise leaves their shipping dock. This is evident in the lack of quality in what they deliver and their lack of customer service.
Now for some Photo documentation of shipping damage and fit and finish of these safes.
Photos show serious damage to the top left corner of the safe. Please continue to read on for more information including fit and finish of the final product. Paint missing on the edge of the door jamb (above) Rusty Bolt not the best quality
All four Corner Welds of the door jamb broke during shipping. Bondo on hinge cracked (light colored crack) during shipping. Can't tell if the weld is ok or not. But all of the welds seem to have failed rather easily. How would they hold up if someone was trying to break in? After I asked repeatedly for days "Please make arrangements to have the damaged merchandise picked up" this is the response from Chris at Homeland Safes. "I'm talking to my boss about it. I will get back to you soon, once my boss tells me what to do." Paint rubbed off the bottom of the safe
Poor paint quality inside door jamb Dents and Scratches on the side of the safe
Corner of safe door damaged and Bondo on corner exposed should this be welded and ground? Welds of the door jamb broke during shipping. As you can tell by the burn marks the parts were obviously welded after the paint was applied " I talked to my boss and he told me since you sign for them that you would have to file a claim with the shipping company so they can bring them back to us. If you want to talk to him his name is George, you can reach him at (562)699-8554 "
" I can assure you that both safes have bolt down holes. In order to have access to the bolt down holes you have to remove all the shelves. We cover the bolt down holes because it looks kind of ugly if the holes are exposed "
As you can see the fit and finish of the interior is poor at best. Notice the lumps and wrinkles in the interior liner. Also notice that bolt down holes were ordered and the were omitted on this safe. When I told Chris about it his answer was not very cooperative or responsible (read his response below). Also there is debris and dirt all over the fabric.
So this is what his boss told him to do!!! They Forgot the Bolt down holes! and what about the poor installation of the fabric Below are some photographs of the general fit and finish. The hinge side of the save door has Painted dead bolts instead of active bolts and you cannot tell if they are welded in. This is not obvious from their web site (do they avoid it on purpose?) There are also sags and runs in the paint.
Above you can see the dead bolts on the left side of the door. Above you can see the runs and blisters in the paint. Above right and right more runs and sags in the paint. Below and below right poor surface preparation shows threw the paint. Notice the stains and debris inside the safe Here are some more photo's of the interior of the safe. Again like the rest of the safe fit and finish is fair and the quality does not meet expectations for a brand new product just shipped from the manufacturer. Paint with dust underneath ruining the finish. Above right Notice bulge and wrinkles in the fabric. Below and below right Stains in fabric particle board shelf arrived broken So I contacted the shipping company that Homeland safes selected to file a claim and we have been going back and forth for weeks and so far the news is not good. I will post more information as it becomes available.
Please check back for more information about the quality and business practices of Homeland Safe and Security Company. If you are considering buying a safe, gun safe, security safe please be careful and good luck.
